Inspired by Australia’s rugged landscapes and dirt roads that disappear into the distance. Travelling in remote parts of Australia fills my creative well, and invites me to attempt to make the invisible spirit of these places visible, while reminding me this country has been here for millennia, and we are brief flickers of life visiting only briefly.
Working with fluid acrylic paint, allowing it to run and move loosely across the canvas recreates the effect of weather on the escapements, rainfall flowing through the rocks and finding its path across the land below. The organic concentric circular patterns loosely mimics the growth rings of trees, while also appearing as pools and puddles of water – pulling the viewer into the distance.
